Traditonal Taiwanese Aubergine / Eggplant dish, 燒茄子 Xiao Qiezi (Braised Eggplant) is ready to be eaten!! You probably need bowls of Five Sacred Grains to eat with!

If you got all the ingredient at home, you should really give it a try. Although eggplant is quite tricky sometimes!!


  • Big round aubergine 1
  • Big tomato 1
  • Sliced garlic 1tsp
  • Seasoning
  • Sugar 3 tbsp
  • Soy sauce 3 tbsp
  • Vinegar 2 tbsp
  • Tariyaki sauce 1 tbsp
  • Potato flour 1 tsp
  • Salt as flavor needed


A.  Braised Aubergine / Eggplant
  1. Wash the aubergine and tomatoes and cut them into pieces.
    Sliced garlic aside for preparations.
  2. Soak aubergine blocks in the water for 5 minutes, then drain them. Add aubergine blocks into a hot oil frying pan, and fried them until soft.
  3. Meanwhile mix a bowl of sauce and seasonings as per the ingredient list. Do not have to add water in the sauce.
  4. Pour a little oil into the original pot, heat the sliced garlic until you can smell it. Slighty stir fry the tomatoes into soft and then add the soft fried aubergine, slighty stir fry a little bit again. Join the sauce until the aubergine soft and tasty, then turn off the heat.
